2010 Ford Taurus SHO First Test - Motor Trend
The upcoming Ford Taurus SHO is a real classic sleeper car. Here's a large family sedan with so so looks that could get yawns. However, this model comes with a big horsepower turbo V6 engine and all wheel drive and can do 0-60 in about 5 seconds and the quarter mile in about 13 seconds AND it can handle the curves. God I'd love to pull up to the light in a Ford Taurus next to a ricer kid racer and blow his doors off. Ford is really coming back. Can't wait to see and test drive their Euro based Fiesta when it arrives. Also can't wait for the Euro based Focus to get here.
Never been a big Ford fan. But that is a sweet looking ride. Ford seems to be pulling their act together pretty well. Too bad GM and Chrysler didnt take note before it was too late for them......
It looks like a high tech quality replacement for the crown vic and am so glad they didn't carry the name to this car. I've always been a Chevy/Buick fan but even I have to admit this thing has some good potential.
This new SHO is fast in a straight but several reviews have noted numb steering and poor handling so it's not exactly a BMW. It also weighs more than 4,000lbs and is a full 400lbs heavier than a 5 series. Not exactly the things that dreams are made of. It also had awful brake fade because Ford didn't upgrade the brakes other than adding performance pads. I also don’t find it to be terribly attractive but that’s just my opinion and some may like the way it looks. Every time Ford sticks fender vents on one of their cars it makes the final product look cheaper and tackier than it would have without those stupid vents.

Valid points all, no doubt, without any difference in price, the BMW wins hands down. But just what is the price point difference between the Ford and the BMW?

There are many better alternatives to the SHO in every department even with price taken into account (performance, looks, etc). I'd take a Hyundai Genesis V8 (375HP), Pontiac G8 GXP, Inifniti G37 or BMW 335i over the SHO any day of the week.
My wife had a '89 SHO and loved it... it was still running well and very fast after 10 years and over 110K miles when we traded it off. This new one is very different but we will go test drive one.
It's American made and that's enough for me to put it on top of the list. I prefer to support my neighbors, not some Oriental or European family.
