Since its American automakers build cars overseas, and overseas automakers build cars in the USA, it can be confusing to know just which car is built where. Check out this web page that outlines each car made in the USA by brand:
More reason for me to continue to buy of the big 3... I guess the whole made in Mexico thing was indeed completely blown out of proportion. That and I like the idea that American engineers have designed my vehicle. I also don't mind purchasing Canadian built machines either.

A huge proportion of the vehicles listed on that site are either assembled in Mexico or use Mexican manufactured components. I don't have any issue with either of these but Mexico certainly does have a huge roll in U.S. vehicle manufacture. I don’t believe the site listed anything about who engineered the vehicles as many of them are styled/designed by design studios in other countries. Many of GM's/Ford’s cars are designed in Europe or influenced by their European designs.

Well I just figured out the numbers for myself... 3 factors for each individual vehicle listed, Engine, Transmission, Complete Assembly.
GM had a total of 111 instances, 6% of which were Mexican
Ford had a total of 54 instances, 11% of which were Mexican
Chrysler had a total of 48 instances, 16.5% of which were Mexican
Total average of all instances that were Mexican, 10%.
Again, the whole Mexican thing has been blown out of proportion, but even 10% is highly unacceptable to me. And as far as engineering and design... your statement is only true for the models available only in Europe. Like all the diesel stuff we dont get.

Not quite. There are many European sourced/designed vehicles that are either sold or will soon be sold in the states. The Pontiac G8, Pontiac GTO, Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice and the upcoming Buick LaCrosse are part of that list.

I am curious, not in the sense to make you look wrong, but rather in sense that I am genuinely curious, as to your information source, do you have a link?
I'll dig up some links later but right off the top of my head the Pontaic G8 and GTO come from Australia under the name Holden. The Saturn Sky is a near exact copy of the Opel GT and the Solstice is based on this as well. The upcoming LaCrosse (a great looking car) is based on the Opel Insignia and was tuned to european driving dynamics. Holden has been using the LSx series of GM motors of years in producing some really powerful cars in Australia.
Being a designer in the auto biz (well currently laid off ) I really don't care where the car is assembled. I'm more concerned about where the E & D , tooling and testing is done.
