when i put my car in reverse i hear this fairly loud bang or clunk or click type thing. its also slow getting into drive and reverse..it takes bout 2 to 3 seconds. wats the prob thanks for the help!!! you guys are really helpin me out a lot with my t-bird issues

Different possibilities;
Vacuum hose leak (some cars)
Engine idle too high when going into gear (clunk)
Dirty trans fluid (fluid hesitation... slippeage)
Linkeage needs adjustment to trans
Worn dry shaft u joints (would be signs of vibration)

Think I covered the main possibilites...Steve
