Towards the end of the year, we'll be RVing full-time for a year. I would like to know how we can register the RV if we sold the house beforehand? I know some states require proof of residency.
I'm sure some full-time RVers do this. How about people who live in a mobile home community which usually doesn't offer fixed addresses? How about insurance?
You'll have the same concerns when it comes to declaring a "state of residence" for filing your Federal and State Income tax forms. So, you're going to have to decide where your official tax residence is, and that should be the state where you'll register/insure your RV.
If you're only going to be RV'ing for a year, then I'd use your current home address for these purposes and have your mail forwarded to you while out on the road, or held for call or forwarding instructions at your local post office.
A "mobile home community" is a fixed address location.
Offhand California does not strike me as a very good choice for an optional address. You might as well choose a state with no state income tax - FL, WA, TX...
If your parents or another relative tend to stay put, you might use their address.
I am wondering if someone like mailboxes plus would allow you to have them forward your mail and registration? You could call them once a month/week and have them mail it general delivery to a post office near your camp. Some places like mailboxes plus do not issue a po box, you just use their address.

I know it isn't. Especially with the smog laws they have. But it's really odd. I confirmed it. CA does allow vehicle registration using only a PO box. Unreal. In California!
NO state income: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington State, and Wyoming. I'm looking up each state's DMV laws.
Parents? Relatives? Sure, I'll just dig up their corpses.

They do, for a price. Which I'm trying to avoid. It's a last choice.
