I rode one of those Boss Hoss' years ago in Sturgis-- when they were still called Boss Hogs. They were giving test rides during bike week. The thing was crazy fast, but you couldn't turn it.
This guy did it way before Boss Hoss. E.J. Potter is one of my Michigan heroes.
ETA: Scroll down a bit for a good pic of his turbine trike.

I was doubled over laughing about putting the lawnmower engine on a bicycle and being paced at 60mph by his mom in the Buick. Nobody loves you like Mom!

Yep...they were called "Hogs",but HD got sue happy and tried to trademark "Hog"...it must have scared them bad enough that HD was going to sue them that they changed it.
A neighbor of mine had a brand new V-Max a couple years ago. I did some riding on it, and have to say that I wasn't impressed. Power like there's no tomorrow, but the bike felt VERY unstable. It was weird. And maybe it was just me, but it sure felt like a serious accident waiting to happen.

I bought a new one in '85 and I know what you are saying...they are a straight line kind of ride, but man what a ride....back then there was nothing that was coming out of the factory that could see anything but your tail lights from stop light to stop light.
I have not been fortunate enough to ride the new one,but I have read and watched a lot of video of it and it is supposed to be head and shoulders above the old one in handling and power both....VERY,very few stock bikes will be able the catch the new one in the 1/4 and there won't be a lot of built bikes be able to do it either....where are all those big mouths on the Vrods now
With VERY mild tweeking it's running 9.51 @ 143 mph in the quarter mile.
The muscle bike that defined power in the 20th century has been reborn as the new king of the hill (197hps/123ftlbs).
Just yesterday, here in Omaha, they arrested a guy who was clocked doing 188 mph down Interstate 29 (which is narrowed to 1-lane in a lot of places).
He was riding a 1300 Susuki Hyabusa.
Obviously, he's a skilled rider. But skilled doesn't mean smart.
