i help other fix their stuff from time to time but that's about it. for me, it's just the commraderie (sp?) that comes from hanging out with like-minded people.

I've fixed another man's car several times if we're talking about older family members who can't do so themselves. And I've helped friends fix their vehicles plenty of times. Helped stranded people I met in passing several times.
But if we're not friends/family and you're physically capable... well then you're gonna have to pay up
When the kids (and I ) were younger I preferred to let them do the work while I sat on a stool and directed them. Now they just take it in and let a pro do it.
