Right now, I drive a 97 Civic with about 166K on it. For its age, it has been pretty reliable and only given me one major problem in the past.
But now, I want to "try" and get something else. I'm in college and I work full time. What would you suggest me to do to get a decent priced, gas efficient car in my situation. I've looked around Craiglist and eBay motors and have considered going to my bank or a credit union for a car loan, or try financing with a reputable dealer if possible. Anyhow, what are your suggestions? What models and such should I look at?
I'd just stick with the civic under you're out of college if it has served you well so far.
I agree. Civics can last well into the 200K plus miles.
Yeah you may have a repair or 2 over the years, but it will still be cheaper than buying something newer. Plus with your Civic you know how it was serviced, etc.
Keep it. Last thing anyone needs in college is a car loan.
i'd say stick with the Civic. however, not to be mean, but if you're going to take the car in for service, you need to take someone with you who is car-savvy. your post about what is 'wrong' with your Civic kinda shows your lack of knowledge about cars and the wrong shop may try to take advantage.
Stick with the Civic unless you want to pay student loans along with car payments.
