How funny. This thread originated in 2009 (and I posted on it in 2009 - almost 5 years ago) and some people are still telling him what to do to the Lincoln before venturing off in it. I wonder what ever became of that anyway?

What a coincidence , I just had a conversation about the car with one of my siblings last week. The car is still in limbo, the executor of the property is strictly by the book and won't allow me near the car until all the tax issues are resolved. One sibling who is in my corner believes they can get everyone to take less and use part of the purchase price to take it to a shop to give it a going over. I was able to come up with a good list of concerns based on the replies from this thread. I did find out that the car was being started up and driven a few miles weekly up until about 2011.
( I think this thread was probably one of my first introductions to this site)
My '79 Corrolla Liftback sat for five years at 155K-160K milege, used at most 2x/yr, most years not used at all. Then, needing a commuter car, I took it to Firestone to assess and update:$772 estimate (in 1989 $$). My office mates told me to to check tires, fluids, change oil, add new gass to old and drive it. Drove it another 34K with same tires not on blocks during non-use. Saved $750. Booo to Firestone!
