I have a 1993 S-10 2.8 liter V6/5 speed....with 185k on it. Still has the original engine and trans which still work well.

Also have a 1991 S-10 4X4 4.3 liter/5 speed with 138k on it. Original engine and trans too I believe.

I have a 1990 Chey Silverado with 246,000 miles on it. I add half a quart of oil between changes. Wouldn't trade it for a new one.

Mine is an 89 Silverado. 5.0 liter & automatic. I used to put a lot of miles on it, but don't any more. About all I do anymore is putter from home to Menards, Lowes & Home Depot, to investment houses, to home.

217,000 miles.

What's your truck and how many miles do you think you'll get on the clock?
The answer here depends on two things........

The original build quality ( get lucky and get all good parts or get unlucky and get mostly bad parts)

The care the owner(s) give the truck. Use it hard and don't care for it and it's soon junk or use it smart and give it good care.

If you get lucky and get a truck with mostly good parts and give it good smart care then it will last almost forever.

judge by how many late model trucks I see on the road and our reviews I would say trucks are some of the longest lasting and most reliable vehicles on the road. If I were to upgrade from my 91 F250 I would look at a 92-97 F250-F350 with a 7.3 power storke tublo diesel I would love f350 for the solid front axel.

My 1977 F250 has 400k on it. Used to travel all over the country with a slide-in camper.

My 1997 F350 has 58k on her.

My '89 Chevy had 225k on it when I sold it, engine burned less than a quart in 3000 miles, and still on the original tranny. (K1500 with 350)

My current truck is a Dodge/Cummins. I expect 400K.

'98 Chevy K1500 Z71 with the Vortec 5.7L of course. Has 166,000 miles on her right now and still running like a beast. I've never had any major problems with her and no oil burning. I expect atleast another 100,000-150,000 before a rebuild maybe.

The best truck I ever had as far a cheap to run.good milage waqs a 89 chevy silverado with the throttle body 350. It got like high 19's to just over 20 with a tow package and was easy to fix and maintain. It did have poor qauilty GM starter and alternators tho which is normal. Other than that just normal maintainence and so easy to work on.I keep it for 130K miles then sold it to a freinds son who drove it for about five more years. He did say thsat he had the tranny replaced before selling but still ran good.I chnage the tranny filter and fluid very year and never has a problem. Ohte than that only the pint job was terrible.
