dodge only had the 440 in the 69 model year for the Dart and 69-71 in the 'Cudas are you sure it had a 440 from stock?
or is it like your 1972 ford pick-up with a 429 from the factory when in '72 ford only offered a 390 as it's biggest motor?
Ford built it that way. Get over it because I have the paperwork to prove it. Just because what is published at the begining of a model year does not mean that additions and deletions don't happen during production. It is clear you have no clue what happens on assembly lines.
As for the Dart, I never said it still had the underpowered slant 6 still in it. Yes, it was a 440 installed by someone well after it left Dodge. Someone with the sense to know leaving a slant 6 in it was a waste of a desent car!
Wow, I bet a 440 was a tight squeeze in a '66 Dart! Usually there is no room for power steering and a power brake booster.
It had a C/M tube K-Frame with rack and pinion. The 4 wheels with Wilwood brakes don't need a power booster. God knows I love racecar stuff on street rides! It also had the fenderwell headers, with Magnaflow race bullet mufflers. Sounded awesome.

Did you ever do a 1/4 mile run with yours?
I actually have a road test of a factory '69 440 Dart GTS. It came with those ridiculously skinny E70x14" tires. With a change to wider tires (not slicks, just wider tires) it ran 12.70@112 mph. With a 3.55:1 axle ratio and Torqueflite transmission.
1964 Chevy Bel Air--327 4-on-the-floor. Bought it in 1972 for $375 from my dad. Wish I'd kept it, but back then, it wasn't considered anything special, just another old car.
Followed it with a 1969 Dodge Polara with a 383. Now, that was a real chick magnet...
(For the sarcastic impaired, the last comment was just that...sarcasm.)
1974 Datsun 210 Hatchback. I learned to drive a stick shift on this car, drove her on many road trips, she was great on gas, made it through many a corn field and up steep hills. Finally she got so rusty, the rear axle broke in half. That was a very sad day indeed..

I posted the test on this forum a few years ago.
Years ago I had a 69 Dart with a warmed up 440, the 509 Purple Shaft cam, home ported 68 heads, old style (by todays standards) Torker intake, holley 800 with a 850 baseplate, and accel ignition. With a 3500 stall and built 727, 4.10 gears and M/T 31x12.5x15 slicks, ran 10.86 @ 121 mph in the 1/4. It avg. 11.00's at 118 very consistant, but I hated that ugly limelight paint! Best thing I did to that car was painting everything above the top fender line Black!!! Worst thing I didn't do?
Didn't paint everthing below the fender line black too!

I was going to guess somewhere in the 11s.
To see a test of a '69 440 Dart GTS I posted, type in the "search this forum" bar "Let's Hear It For Compacts!"
my 1st car was a '73 light blue Dart with a slant 6, it was a rust bucket but it always started.
