Most are Japanese models, save for the Volvo... sorry if I omitted one you like... feel free to add.

Sorry, I meant for this to be a poll, but forgot to click "post a poll" and it would not let me add.

1987 Toyota Cressida

1987 Acura Legend

1987 Volvo 740

1987 Nissan Maxima

1987 Mazda 929 (not offered in the USA until late 1987 as a 1988 model)

I would have to say the Toyota Cressida, at least it has RWD and is a nice looking car, the Cressida is one of the best looking imports of all time and I wish they've never stopped making them.

Yeah, I had a 1981 Cressida in 1997 and it was a really nice and well built car.

RWD is good. The Volvo and Mazda were also RWD... I meant to say that. Grandpa has a 1990 Mazda 929. Nice, but those had head gasket issues.

I never knew the Mazda 929's have head gasket issues, I've always liked the Cressida's quite alot and it's a shame they're getting rarer and rarer as time goes by.

Yeah, but I am not sure how common it was and I dont think the 1992-up had the problem... only the 1988-91. Grandpas blew on his around 156K. Oil filled the radiator. He had it replaced, but 10K later, it blew again.

Replaced yet again, then it started popping a fuel line... everytime they would replace it, it would bust again... he finally parked it, because it was a fire hazard. Now the car is almost ruined... been setting under trees for 4 years now. I will take a photo tomorrow.... it was a beautiful car.... not a piece of junkyard fodder.

I liked every single one of these cars. Would probably drive anyone today. Except the 87 Maxima I bought was not well taken care of, and I didn't know much about cars at 22yrs of age

Acura. The Acuras of that vintage were awesome, very luxurious and had great handling. The Volvo is my second pick, but I will say it's the most reliable of all of them. Mazda, then Nissan, then Toyota are next, but all are good cars.

The Legend was certainly the most modern or the time.

The Maxima was made so much better in '89.

My favorite of that bunch was the Cressida. The Maxima comes in second. The 929 comes in a distant third, then the Acura, then the Volvo. I prize reliability above all else.

Gotta go with the Volvo, even though I'm a 240 guy. And even though I really don't see the 740 belonging in that group of cars...
