Mine is a Toyota car and it has a screeching sound too......but the sound only manifests when I am taking a turn and my A/C is on.
Would this also be the Belt?
I was just wondering, what would cause my car to make this screeching/kinda whistling sound, when i take off, it usually happens in the colder weather. My cousin says it could be one of the bands.
If bands = belts there is probably one loose and needs to be tightened or replaced.

Could be, if it's a serpentine belt; might only be slipping when there's enough load on it when both the A/C and power steering unit are demanding load at the same time.

Keep in mind the the original post you're responding to is over 2 years old.
Its a 2005 nissan maxima, it happens, when i start the car, and put it on drive and take off, it lasts for about 15 seconds and then it stops, it sounds, like a "crying" screeching sound.
YEEEEeeeeeaaaaawwwppp WHERE: Under the hood. WHEN: Right after startup until you rev the throttle a couple of times and the rubber warms up. WHAT: Belt squeal. A loose or glazed belt, bad tensioner or misaligned pulley. URGENCY: Make an appointment, and don't take a long trip. This won't go away on its own--until just before the belt fails. FIX: Check belt tension and pulley alignment; replace the belt.
[KINDA SOUNDS LIKE THIS, IS IT HARD TO REPLACE BELT?]
According to the MEINEKE commercial, their techs can diagnose any problem by the sound the car is making.
My car screeches big time when under load or when the fan or lights are on. I did replace the water pump/pwr steering belt but its still noisy. The belt is nice & snug but I was told to get a good year gator back belt. Im not sure if the pullys are bad. Its a very annoying noise but it doesn't do it all the time.
you can buy some of that belt dressing to stop the screeching
A good way to NOT address the problem and long term make the problem worse. Belts are engineered to run dry,
