Seats have universally become hard and uncomfortable, foreign or domestic. American cars haven't had plush seats for a long time. My 98 Explorer made me say ahhh every time I climbed in.

Comfort for long drives... If I am not driving a Condo Volvo semi truck with air-ride seat... I prefer a VW van! (Pre-1990, pre 1980 much preferred) HUGE steering wheel, erect sitting position, good visibility... can drive for DAYS without getting 'tired' (good thing cuz it takes WEEKS / months to get anywhere!) U-haul trucks pass you on Mtn passes like you are going backward.

American cars are TERRIBLE for comfort (and anatomically correct posture seats)

German cars seem to 'fit' (and are more fun to drive in Mtns...)

none others.

Datsun (nissan) is probably best of Japanese design... but I have found Korea cars miserably poor fit for my body (pretty normal 6' x 160#)

I don't agree. I've had plenty of American vehicles that are comfortable. My Suburban is comfy for long trips while towing, my Mustang was comfy for performance driving, and my Volt was comfortable when I drove it to Maine and back from here in Baltimore. My SVT Contour was comfy to drive from Seattle here to Baltimore.

Seems that way

I had a friend with a 98 Explorer and I loved those seats Like sitting on a sofa that moves down the road, lol.

I liked the seats in DH's Mercury Grand Marquis and the ones in my Ford Windstar were good, too.

The ones in my Focus are so-so. Don't like it that there are no arm rests and hate it that the head rest curves and is not adjustable.

When was the last time America has made a REAL full sized sedan? Audi (A8), BMW(7 series), and Mercedes(S class)
I highly doubt American automotive manufacturers can even come close to the Germans.

I would not classify the above cars as "full-sized." More like mid-sized being 200-208" long.

The last era of Lincoln Town Cars (2011 and before) were about 215" long and the L-series was 221" long, truly full-sized.

Yes, I know the EPA does their own classification, which I see as flawed (a Toyota Avalon, about the same size as a mid-'60s Dodge Dart, listed as a "full-sized" car).
