I had my old 83 bronco stolen they took it to commit an other crime and ditched it in the seedy part of town I guess it was easy to spot seeing as it was lifted and had burned out cherry bomb mufflers and no cats it was really loud
Just a heads up, The Club is a joke; you can hack saw one off in a matter of seconds. You can hide a hack saw under your clothing.
Kill switches can work as long as you're smart about where you place it; the first place a thief probably looks for a kill switch is where else...under the dash.
But yes as someone else said, nothing will stop a thief with a tow truck.
Someone else mentioned their 65 GTO about got stolen....I can only imagine a dash mounted ignition switch has to be an easy steal.
Lo Jack has been said to be a good way to get your car back in the event it is stolen, as long as the local PD has a Lo Jack tracker. However not all PD's have them.
Those of you that say "drive a junk beater with a nice stereo"....that might work as long as you're not driving around town with the stereo up which clearly advertises what you have.

I am bad for that my F250 has all my stereo stuff I have collected over the years my car is stock KISS does sound as good with out a sub and some good mid-high range speakers it feel like peter kriss is drumming behind my back seat but it does look like a junk beater from the outside with the faded paing but the drive train has all been beefed up it was made to be awsome off road but I use it as my winter beater but then a agian it has a custom two tone paint job that the orginal owner put on in 91 so it is too easy to spot for it to be worth stealing plus it's stick and thives are to lazy to shift

I see lo jack on that show on discovery called jacked they seem to track them down pretty fast and it help cops prevent a high speed pusuit because they don't need to follow them to close
But I did have a clown try and steal my '65 Goat one night back around '73 or '74. Unfotunately for him he didn't notice that Dusty (our ever loving but not-so-little and occasionally ornery female Shepherd) was outside before he smoked the driver's side window. Just as he was leaning over the door to open it from the inside she showed up on the scene and opened fire on him with her pearly whites. It took the doc in emergency over 100 stitches to get the idiot's crotch back into some semblance of normality, he probably still talks like Mickey Mouse for all I know.
Ever since then, though, I've installed a simple kill switch up under the dash on everything I've owned. No obtrusive club, flashing light on the dash or warning stickers telling someone what to plan on dealing with ahead of time...just an engine that will turn over but not fire. It must work because a buddy of mine installs the same kind of kill switch setup and, even though he's found his ignition punched on 2 separate occasions, he's never lost his ride.
That all being said there probably isn't much you can do against a pro using a tow truck...but that's why God created concealable GPS's then, isn't it?
...
That's what I'd say. A professional who specializes in vehicle anti-theft installation said that any car can be stolen, no matter what anti-theft things you do. But there is another thing you can do: install and conceal a GPS tracking device in addition to your anti-theft. That way if the anti-theft doesn't work and your car still gets stolen, you'll know where it is. You can track it down. Just hide that GPS really well (under the wheel well is not concealing it) and you're in business.
1992 Saturn coupe stolen 9/2005. Recovered 3 days later, nearby, with no known damage, battery missing.
No ani-theft devices were on it. Windows were rolled up, doors locked, stolen in the afternoon from a crowded parking lot at work. Found out after that a worn key from any pre-98 Saturn can open and drive any other pre-98 Saturn. I've since sold my Saturn and it's still running....and hasn't been stolen again.

That's the way is it with Heavy equipment, You would think something that cost $50k to $150k+ would have better security, but any bull dozier or backhoe key will work in any other bull dozier or backhoe. Actually it's pretty funny, cars that cost $15k have better security than a $50k backhoe.
What anti-theft devices were installed on the vehicle?
Factory alarm only. Seeing how my car was stolen with a tow truck, not many anti-theft devices would have worked worth a damn except the ones that can detect when the car is being tilted.
