This is yet another stupid truck marketing campaign - out to prove "my truck is tougher than your truck."

This test will depend on traction far more than anything else.

Yea, but it's interesting. They should have a couple pulls on dirt and then on concrete. Nothing beats a good ol' truck and tractor pull .

Theres Ford's excuse right there. Plus I'm pretty sure GM isn't going to be doing anything radical to the truck. They will both have new engines and I'm pretty sure it will be a pretty even match. Design and traction will be key.

Ford and Toyota dropped out of the horsepower/torque pissing contest. That is Dodge/Chevy/Nissan territory.

I am concerned with things like: will the truck stop? is the truck stable when towing on the highway? is the truck reliable? is the truck fuel efficient? is the truck comfortable?

As a consumer I just don't see the point in a truck pull.

Why would these things be important to a consumer?

Actually the 6.4 is one of the best engines Ford ever put in their trucks. All of the 6.0 problems have been fixed. There are guys making OVER 600hp with simple bolt ons through a stock transmission. They are sending the Dodge and Chevy guys home crying. Literally.

The 08+ is one gorgeous, redesigned, bullcrap tough truck.

Have a look for yourself:

As for the 2011 Superduty with Ford's new in-house designed Scorpion engine, they are promoting it pretty hard as the workhorse that it is.

They took one to a local sled pull and a STOCK 2011 Superduty made full pull on a 30,000lb sled!

My buddy just picked up a new GMC 2500HD and I picked up new Superduty F250. We put them side by side and he's pretty pissed - the difference in person is very obvious which truck is built "tough".
