haven't read them for number of years but i preferred C&D

motortrend was always my least favorite auto mag. they seemed soft and very excited about junk sometimes

i mean all the magazines accept car ads, but you don't have to go too soft

i also liked C&D's detailed testing

I get subscriptions to C&D, Motor Trend and Road & Track. For the most part, all three get their hands on the same vehicles. Often in the same issue. I can't really say that one stands out above the rest, except to say that I enjoy the writing style of the C&D authors a bit more.

I disagree. Motor Trend didn't exactly have nice things to say about the Chrysler T&C is it's long-test verdict. They also criticized the Chevy Cruz's lack of power.

Car and Driver didn't have very nice things to say about the Ford Focus or Jeep Liberty.

Personally, I prefer Motor Trend. Not really sure why, but probably because I've been a subscriber since 1979.

Motor Trend would be OK if they would stop the stupid opinions on new car issues.
I prefer Automobile magazine, especially the auction section.

Aren't they all owned by the same publisher now?

My vote goes to Four Wheeler, Four Wheel & Off Road, 4WD Sport Utility Magazine, and the others like them!

Road and Track is better than any of the choices. It is the most engineering oriented and least casual. Their "tech" articles are well done. Their review last year of variable valve timing systems was superb.

Motor Trend is a joke. Their vehicle of the year awards are dumb and frequently go to mediocre vehicles. Too kind in general.

C&D is funny to read sometimes, but more subjective than R&T.

Automobile is a bit more about car art.
