All, of course, were manual transmission. the first two, floor shift; the Chevy, "three on the tree"
i learned to drive in an old vw bug...couldn't tell you what year it was, but my dad took me out in some gravel roads and let me give er hell! i remember the gear shifter was so loose, there was no way to tell it was in gear besides letting the clutch out and gassing it!
at 14 I used to work on my neighbors farm and I would drive his late 70's Ford Pickup in the fields picking up hay bails, talk about pressure I was learning how to drive with people standing in the tailgate.
What I first drove was actually a tractor, a Allis Chalmers WD45. These have a hand clutch which made it possible for me to drive it since I was only 3 years old at the time.

A 1993 Toyota Previa was where I logged most of my early driving days and though I learned stick on my dad's '93 Saab 9000, I rarely drove it otherwise. I took the test in my mom's then-new 2002 Lexus RX300.
