For a growing number of consumers, a lack of time and patience for buying cars has piqued an interest in hiring a professional to do it for them. And to help serve this market, a cottage industry has emerged to search the nation for the perfect car for you…for a fee, of course.
The concept behind hiring an auto broker is relatively simple: you're not a professional car buyer, so why go up against a professional car seller alone? With the confusion of financing, fees, add-ons, taxes and the hurried, jargon-filled nature of the dealership, it only makes sense to leave the bargaining to someone who won't be fazed by the wheeling and dealing.

hmm they may save you a few $$$ but you lose most of that when paying their fee so you don't really win and who says you can't get the same deal they get if you just do alot of research yourself and know how much you really want to spend when it comes down to the deal and at anytime be willing to walk away from a bad deal.
Depends on what you're looking for. If one is just looking for a typical family sedan, minivan, SUV, etc. those are abundant in the market and in classifieds. There are forums covering pretty much every brand and there are general ones like Edmunds - between them, you can figure out what a decent deal is and prevent yourself from getting screwed. Use phone and email if you don't like haggling personally. And if you "don't want to go up against a professional seller" you can always buy privately (i.e. from an owner who is selling the car him/herself) for a relatively new model year.
