If 40,000 people died every year in plane crashes, train wrecks, or shipwrecks, they would certainly ban passenger travel on all of those. For that matter, I think most people would refuse to take those modes of transportation with or without a ban. Yet, people have no problem driving. I've always wondered about that.

Well at the height of rail travel i this country there were over 10,ooo train wreckes a year. I was watchign a history of rqailroads passenger travel and hasd no idea of the numbers or death rate back then.Alos saw a show on the west that said a cowboys most frequenht casue of early death was being thrown from his horse.Seems that itsa most human behavior that would have to be banned.Maybe a little horse sense would help.
I have wondered why bars have parking lots. It doesn't make any sense to me.
Becasue some of the people are too drunk to walk?
