Notice the similarities, that diagonal slope from the back of the window to the bed of the truck? Ridgeline builds it into the frame. Avalanche just adds a couple of pieces of plastic. Can I have that plastic installed on the Tundra or is just not available?
In both cases the supports are exactly that. The Avalanche has no firewall on the back of the cab, or the front of the box, so the spars are there to keep the body from twisting.
Same for the Ridgeline. It's a unibody, and that big open space with no supports would have the Honda twisted like a pretzel without them.
For the Tundra, they arent needed, as the box isn't part of the actual truck, just bolted to the frame rails.
Well, for me it's strictly looks. I just hate the "look" of a pick-up with that straight-down back window in front of the bed. At least the ridges give the truck some "pizazz" even if structurally it's not needed on the Tundra. Otherwise I have to go with another shell. I'm just using the truck as a passenger vehicle---no heavy-duty hauling---tow or bed. So someone mentioned Lund. Are they..well I guess the best is to goggle. Thanks for the tip. And the replies.
