You bet, and I am glad of that. I like Fords.

You, and others miss my point. Maybe the flag you are waving is getting in the way of seeing the big picture.

I agree.

Better a flag waver than a flag basher. Or to be one of those who thinks that no American cars are any good.

Again, you miss the point.

I never said that "no [sic] American cars are any good".

I don't know why I waste my time trying to talk sense to folks that are blinded by a nationalistic bent, rather than the reality of the auto business.

I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to a few others on this board and many people in general.

There's nothing wrong with supporting your country, and rooting for the home team.
Oh, the irony! So basically you're lauding Europeans for being more open-minded than you are? Because, if they were 'rooting for the home team' as you were, then they probably wouldn't be buying a Ford?

Not at all. If Europeans want to buy cars from American manufacturers, good for them. This has nothing to do with how "open-minded" I am. I just like to see U.S.-based companies do well. Why is that such a problem for some people?

It's now a global car, essentially. As was described in the Washington Post today:

Quote:
Car companies can no longer afford to develop one kind of vehicle for Europe, another for Asia and another for North America. Through rapid advances in technology and electronic communications, they've now made their once-delusional talk of "global cars" and "global platforms" everyday reality.

That development has been accompanied by the collapse of false corporate dichotomies, such as "GM of Europe" and "Ford/North America." There is now one GM and one Ford.

Global, key word.

It was still developed in Europe.

I see that as a good thing, as the domestics have not done real well with small car design.
