The Ford Fiesta is a combination of everything the old die hard domestic auto lovers hate about Asian/Euro cars. I think it will be a great car in its segment when it is sold here although its definitely not the car for me.

Yep, this national centric BS borders on bigotry.

Cars are cars, why worry so much about the country of origin.

Besides, the Fiesta is a European Ford.

Go Europe!

No, it's not bigotry at all. It has more to do with wanting to see your country doing well.

Another example: If I support American athletes in the Olympics, does that mean I'm "bigoted" against athletes from other countries? No.

There's nothing wrong with supporting your country, and rooting for the home team.

Good point. For some reason, wanting the U.S. to do well and/or supporting American cars irritates some people.

I like the new Ford models coming out especially the Fiesta and the Fusion. When is the new Fiesta coming out in the US? If I'm not mistaken, it's the twin car to the new Mazda 2, right?

Did either of you know that the Fiesta is a European Ford?

I have a sneaking suspicion that many diehard domestic car fans think that if the US car makers return to profitability...that they can start singin' Happy Days Are Here Again.

I hate to break it to you...the days of high school dropouts retiring to the lake at age 48, with lifetime free health care are gone forever. The party is over...there's no way the US car makers are going to return to one of the major causes of their decline....crushing labor costs.

Auto factory jobs will still be better than WalMart or Miickey D's...but that 60-70 dollar an hour stuff is HISTORY...

Yep, but sales of American-made Fords are doing better, too.
