I'll take the "euro crap" over the other cars any day of the week.

To each his own.
I think my friend's Ford hotrod, which runs sub 9.5 sec quarter miles would eat your Eurocrap and spit it out, but it takes all sorts to make a world !!

Let him try to eat and spit out an R8 on a real track (you know, with curves) and we'll see who's car is sitting on its roof.

He humiliated a Mitsubishi Evo 8 just the other day on track, actually.
Remember the R8 is only 400 bhp.

My old Quattro turbo was dynoed at over 500 bhp, it would have eaten an r8 too.
The R8 might look nice, but it doesn't really have the power to match.

What a coincidence because my buddy with an Evo 8 humiliated an older Ford hot rod on a track the other day too!

I wouldn't doubt that a highly modded Quattro could put down some nice numbers but we can modify an R8 too. A turbocharged V10 R8 can put down 1500WHP with modified internals and 1000WHP with a stock engine on race fuel (700 on pump gas). I'm not saying the R8 is the best car in the world (although its quite nice) but calling it "euro crap" shows only bias on your part. I like hot rods but liking one type of car shouldn't automatically discount everything else. "I like milk so I absolutely despise juice." "I like green so all other colors suck." Doesn't that sound dumb?

A friend of mine has an Austin Mini with a Vtec turbo fitted in it.
230 hp in a car which weighs the same as a snickers bar.

Looks aren't everything. The R8 may look like a supercar, but it isn't.

The mini looks like your grandma's shopping cart, but isn't.

The R8 is no super car but its definitely an exotic. I never claimed it to be the best thing since sliced bread either. I know a few guys running around with ridiculously fast EG/EK hatches, Cobras, EVO's/STI's, an LS1 RX7 and so on. My previous car was a modded 1995 300ZX. A lot of these cars will put much more costly cars to shame but I'll still take the R8 over all of them if given the choice. Why? Because most of my time is not spent at a track and the luxury, power, features offered by the R8 make for a pretty darn good weekend runner that can still holds it own through a corner.

'eurocrap'

yeeha!

That sums up some of the narrow minded attitudes on this board.
