Before I leave this board, I just wanted to say that I enjoy your posts.
I have never owned a 'Nissan', but I had a Datsun 1200 and it was as reliable as anything I ever had. If I was in the market (and had that kind of scratch) I would definitely look at the GT-R.
Thank you sir, not too shabby yourself

That said, Carbon discs don't wear nearly as much.
As for the regular brakes, just upgrade to some cheaper aftermarket types. I realize saying upgrade and cheaper in the same sentence is somewhat unorthodox, but in this price range there are plenty of high grade brake systems to choose from.
Heck, if you are going to push it hard and not worry about a warranty....buy a gently used Z06 and slap a super charger on it. Should be able to do it for what? <70k?
Then you can destroy either one to your hearts content.
I'd probably skip the Spec-V and go straight for the base GT-R if I was in the market. I wonder how much they will be used in a few years. I know the C6 Corvettes can already be had for less than $25k although you'd have to be willing to sit in that interior.
Anyone worried about how a Corvettes interior looks is going to need to buy a large supply of car-sized paper bags to cover their GT-R's exterior.
Those are legtimate complaints about both vehicles.
Are we seriously discussin the interior appointments of cars that are built to go fast above all else. Given, I'll be just as critical as anyone of the Vette's interior, but it is still the performance bargain of the century.
No matter how crappy the interior plastics of a Vette may be, at least it looks like a Vette. The first time I saw a GT-R sitting on a lot I thought it was a modded 370Z.

I think the GT-R is a very attractive vehicle, and it gets better with time.
That said, I'll agree it's an acquired taste.
