Good luck. You'll need it.

Also curious how there can be less than 1400 in the USA when you said it's a limited edition of 1000.

Missed your edit. Sorry.

1991: 2008 imported
1992: 1001 imported

3000 of these vehicles were badged x/2000 or x/1000, respectively, and there were an additional five which did not receive badges at the port of entry. The remaining 4 vehicles never received VINs and were test vehicles, presumably destroyed or returned to Japan.

Mine is one of only 226 imported in the 92-only color, Kensington Grey.

GalantVR4.org has been tracking VINs and badge numbers of members for years now. Last I checked, they were tracking 720 or so. Extrapolating the in-house ratio of running vehicles to totaled to the original whole, the figures come out to a conservative estimate of around 1316 still on the road.

Now, to close this matter, the car was totaled this week. I did not get the $4300 I demanded, but they paid to have a professional auto appraiser come out and appraise the car. I got a 30 page report detailing how he came to the conclusion that the car is worth $3800.

That's 427% more than they originally offered. I'll take it.

And now I daily drive a parts car.

Sounds like you made out really well. Are you going to get a rebuilt title to keep driving it or just run out the tags? If you're planning on keeping the car, the stigma over rebuilt titles shouldn't be a big deal since you'll know the exactly what happened. I'm not sure if there'd be as much stigma over a rebuilt title on a ricer anyway.
