To Deez Nutz: if a later second gen TA is your ultimate dream car, then why don't you have one? I mean, those things can be had. Very attainable.
Because have you checked the price of a 1977 special edition black and gold Trans AM? Just like the one Burt Reynolds drove in the 1st Smokey And The Bandit movie? They're not exactly what I'd call "cheap", especially for only a 200 hp car. Yeah believe it or not the "bandit" (as they were known more as) Trans AM's usually command the top dollars.
Plus right now I don't have the room or funds for another car and with our economy in the gutter, selling either of the two i have now for peanuts is out of the question.
My other dream car would be a '69 Camaro, and if you wonder why I don't have one of those too, again check the pricing.
I know looks are subjective and are in the eye of the beholder, but I definitely prefer the 69-73 Trans Am to the later models. The bulk of the changes were to the front end I know, but they just leave me uninspired.
Well my (new found) understanding is that they make their money selling restoration parts, but they make their name making custom cars like this.
That said, I too, originally thought they also provided either ready made modified cars, or modification parts.
They do other work as well. Some of the cars on MuscleCar went back to them for some body work and paint. When you have 5 or more builds going at the same time sometimes you need help. The '69 Firebird convertible they were working on is another one.
