I have a Scion Xb. I bought it new for $17K so I would imagine you can get a used one pretty inexpensively. It gets around 25 MPG, has a 4 cylinder engine and has lots of nice features for a small car. The back seats fold completely flat so if you need to transport things there is plenty of space back there. I really like it.
thanx chewie. can u check this car id and is that a resonable buy?

I really couldn't tell you as I don't know much about used cars, but whatever you decide on make sure you buy a Carfax vehicle history report for it. Stay away from any car that has had anything other than a minor fender bender.
01 acura integra 5-speed with the 1.8 liter DOHC 16-valve and V-tech good on gas cheap and easy to fix and fun to drive and can be found for sale in the 5K mark

Chevy Cavalier I put 500,000 miles on 2 of them never had a problem.Used them for work put gas oil and 2 muffler systems.
Surprisingly, I have a friend with a Cavalier, and he is getting up to high mileage, and has not yet spend one cent on his car, except gas and oil.
