Mirage was a huge player in conflicts around the world. From the 6th Day War on to the Iran-Iraq war, Mirage was in the news, then nothing. Has it seen action anywhere lately? It looked great for sure.

Mirages always disappear when you get close to them.

The Mirage III/5 that was used in the Falklands, 6 day war and Yom Kippur war (and the IAF Nesher or Kfir variants) was replaced first with F-4s then F-15s, F-16s, and soon F-35 in the IAF. France replaced them with Mirage F1/2 then 2000, then the Rafale.

The only country with Mirage IIIs in service is Pakistan.

The original Mirage III design dates from 1956 IIRC. It's obsolete like the MiG-21

It's been replaced for the most part by the Rafale

Whatever it is called now, it doesn't seem to be a big seller. Has it seen combat anywhere? And what's with the delta wings? Nobody else is using them.

while not a "pure" delta wing, the F15 uses the delta wing plan form.

Close coupled Canard Deltas are pretty popular, the EF Typhoon, JAS-39 Gripen, Rafale, CADI J-10, PAC/CAC JF-17 are all similar layouts.

The Boeing X-32 was a traditional Delta too (beaten by the X-35, in the JSF program), the F-22 is a clipped delta.

The Mirage that started this thread was a tailless delta in the Mirage I, III, IV, V, and still is in the current 2000 airframes.

As Gungnir pointed out, Gripen and Typhoon have similar fundamentals, it was the common direction for the generation of western fighters designed in the 80s, F-22 being obvious exception.

France, India, Taiwan, the UAE, and some other countries still operate the Mirage 2000. In fact, France is upgrading their fleet.
