Interesting information; thanx for the links. I did not realize the F22(Raptor) production run had been stopped; seems like somewhat of a waste after all the R&D and considering the initial costs associated with tooling up a production line.

When you *in* this field, and be honest about, not much progress ....

The best fighters we have now are close to 20 year old ..... if not older .....

They are actually coming into the airforce base (Holloman AFB) here in southern New Mexico although i wonder if in the near future we'll use almost exclusively UAV's with laser technology as pilots will possibly be a thing in the past.

I agree....we are about ready to go "pilotless" with most aircraft and missions and already have a functional laser system; albeit rather large but it is just first generation technology. Are you close enough to see them? The design is really "sharp". .

No i haven't seen them however the sonic booms we've been having from them are powerful as the whole house shakes when they happen.


This story just came out in the local paper the other day.
