Perhaps you are doing the OP a diservice by talking out of your a** without first-hand experience.
No first-hand experience? Unlike you I've lived in Baltimore for more than 5 years and know that neighborhood and many others.

Your neighborhood is a dump and dangerous.

No offense but what does your knowledge of the neighborhood from 2007 get you that first-hand experience in 2012 doesn't? As they say in Spaceballs, "We're in now, now."

I know Baltimoreans are stuck in the past but that's like me saying, "Oh no, don't eat that hamburger. Go back in time and get a few from Little Tavern. They were really the best, and even though you can no longer buy them they still are and they will always be and nothing will change."

I pass through that neighborhood routinely, along with many other Baltimore neighborhoods, and I have for the past 15 years.

Don't know where you get the notion that I haven't been there since 2007. No offense, but you need to read better.

Patterson Park is definitely a solid neighborhood and johnj has been very fair and honest with it's assessment. It is only going to get nicer as it is so close to the state's number two employer which is also growing like crazy. As far as the actual park, it is a pretty incredible place. Not too many parks in such an urban setting like Patterson Park.

You need to read better. You were offering the perspective of someone who has lived here for over 5 years. So therefore, you were here 5 years ago (2007), and JonJ wasn't (purportedly), so this is what you've used to state your qualifications. My point was and is: It doesn't matter how long you've been here. We are living in the present, not the past.

That's not what I said, but it's clear you're not going to get it.

If I've lived here for over 5 years, how is that saying I was here 5 years ago? Reading comprehension please.

It's obvious that Trace has "some difficulty" with perception and reality. It is also amusing how he or she assumes things so quickly. Perhaps, that itself is telling.

I have been in Baltimore for a long, long time--probably longer than most posting on this site. Let's just say it's been over 25 years now. I moved to Patterson Park from a neighborhood I really enjoyed in northeast Baltimore because I wanted to be closer to work and play. I don't regret that move at all.
Now in the time I have been living here:
My first home was in Fells Point and the next was in Canton. So, I know southeast Baltimore pretty well.

Yep well I've passed through London a few times. No expert though.

Dang! I'll bet he's that Bawlmer guy again!

I live in Upper Fells wich is basically the same area as Butcher's Hill/Patterson Park. It's no dump-pretty decent neighborhood. But, don't believe it doesnt have problems. Thefts and break-ins occur regularly, more rare are assualts and robberies-although they do occur. There's a problem with trash, especially on alley streets and Eastern Ave. Patterson Park can be pretty sketchy at night and early mornings. Kind of a homeless hang out when the weather warms up. You can find better neighborhoods in Bmore, but you can also find much worse.
