I would appreciate recommendations on where to stay near John Hopkins Hospital. Safety and moderate price are our priorities since we may have to stay a few nights while our child is hospitalized. We found some possibilities in Rosedale, but I don't know anything about the area. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

$150/night or less, if possible. We'll have a vehicle so we are not asking for recommendations walking distance (just something with a commute of less than 10 miles). Thanks.

The hotels you saw in Rosedale are likely the ones along Rt. 40 (pulaski Hwy). These are mostly older, independently owned cheap places ... I know that some of them have seen better days and cater to prostitutes and the like - but I don't know which ones, specifically.

With your budget you can definitely find a nicer place. The newer hotels in White Marsh off of 95 and and White Marsh Blvd (Rt. 43) should have what you're looking for. Closer still are the Inner Harbor hotels - but with those, you often have to pay for parking.

Here's a link to some recent recomendations for someone with a similar budget: //www.city-data.com/forum/balti...endations.html

Default Harbor East

There are two Marriotts, one Hilton, and further up President Street, a Residence Inn (I think) that are all relatively close to JHU Hospital. Of the two Marriotts, the Courtyard is going to be cheaper (Aliceanna street). I've heard that the Hilton is about the same price. The other Marriott (Marriott Waterfront) is going to be more pricey. The Residence Inn on President Street is probably cheaper, and is closer to the Metro which I believe serves JHU Hospital. In the area is a Whole Foods, a CVS etc., for amenities. All of them are within sight of JHU Hospital, and probably less than a 10 minute drive.

For what you're looking for, the Best Western at the Baltimore Travel Plaza might be a good option (Baltimore Hotel | Best Western Hotel & Conference Center |Baltimore, Maryland)

My father in law stays there when he comes to visit, and he's never mentioned any problems. The hotel has free parking and isn't too far from Hopkins. It's right next to I95, but when I was there I really couldn't hear the traffic.

Good luck--hope everything goes okay.
