We have family planning to visit Baltimore, and I'd love for them to see fireflies/lightening bugs, but I have no idea if these wonderful little creatures are in Baltimore area this time of year???? Would some kind soul please let me know, and if so, the best places to be able to see them. They will also be in DC for a couple days...

Yes The fireflies are just starting to emerge in the Baltimore Washington area. You want to be in an area full of vegetation Trees etc. The best time is around the end of dusk. I was out in the yard last night and saw a number of them and as the season goes on they will become more plentifully. I have alot of childhood memories catching them we thought that if we caught enough and put them in a jar we could light up a room. Of course there was other things but we won't mention those.
