What is Cross Keys like to live in?

It's an area of roughly 5 condo buildings and shops? Are any buildings better to live in than the others? Who lives there. Is there a downside to living there?

Default My impressions

I have always liked Cross Keys as a concept. It seems to work residentially; whether its retail core works is a matter of debate. My basic caveat: Cross Keys was built in stages. The earliest houses/apartments may or may not be to your liking.
Who lives there? All kinds of people, from a high-powered Washington, D.C. lawyer to a retired television reporter.

The original concept for the retail portion was to have it be "village-like" with grocery store, butcher, pharmacy, barber shop, etc. Now, most of the retail is more geared to high-end fashion, etc. But, I do like the area although I have never really looked at homes there. I always thought it would be a good location for retirement.

Cross Keys is a very exclusive upper class private enclave. If you got the big bux, then by all means, go for it.

I wonder why the retail is failing given the upper income residents that live in such close proximity? I bet that they were real disappointed that Keswick wasnt able to build their assisted living/retirement community across the street on the Baltimore Country Club property. One of the Baltimore development blogs suggested that they should find a way to open up the community to the Jones Falls River and give the community a waterfront presence. I-83 kinda kills the ambiance though

I'm not certain the retail portion is failing. It's just different from the original intention as a place to find all of your daily needs. Instead, it has become more high-end retail.
