Hi,

We are relocating to the Baltimore area, and are most seriously considering the Columbia and Ellicott City areas. Can anyone give me realistic commute times to the Camden Yard/University of Maryland Medical Center area during rush hour?

Thanks!

Hi, in a rush hour I would say 45 minutes, and in normal traffic 25-30 minutes. I work in Ellicott City and drive to downtown to show houses and usually 30 minutes is all I need

I lived in Columbia just off Route 32 and 95 and would drive to downtown inner harbor area in about 25-30 min leaving at about 7 AM Using 95 to 395

The MARC train stops at Camden Yard and you can catch that train in Dorsey or Savage, free parking and an easy walk to UM medical. Train arrive in Camden at 7:53, 8:18 and 9:16. If you take the train from Dorsey you're looking at a 30 minute ride. Trains leave Camden at 3:30, 5:15 and 6:10
I take the train to DC so I don't know what Camden Station is like but I love the train, gives me time to read in the morning and relax after work.

Thanks for the helpful responses. I'll try out the commute, and also look into taking the train.

+1 The train is the way to go. Driving into Baltimore is slowly getting worse, parking expensive. Why go through the hassle? Many people here haven't figured it out. Mass transit takes a little more time(sometimes faster) but you get to read, save $$ on gas and car repairs, save time getting gas, repairs and oil changes; so there is a over time savings. I now ride a bike to the train so I fill up my car every 4-5 weeks, that's right weeks not days. The TRAIN is the way to go. Charlie
