You do understand, I assume, that Philly & South Jersey are east northeast. I'm assuming that you understand that since they are due east of Lancaster. Are you also aware that there are palms in Wildwood? Did you know that the pinebarren tree frogs also exist in the eastern Carolinas?
Atlantic City is actually at the same latitude as Baltimore and it's climate is actually a bit warmer than Baltimore's.

Some Southern cultural aspects never died in Maryland and to this day remain in Baltimore. The gritty industrial blue collar feel is not unique to the Northeast. West Virginia is blue collar like Pittsburgh is. As far as immigrants go in Baltimore, it does have that history. However, we must not forget that English Americans are still the majority of Whites in a city. Couple that with a strong Black presence and you have more of a Southern cultural feel.
The majority of whites in the city are German or Irish, as is the case with Baltimore metro.

From accents to M-D Line to cuisine to attire to country/urban to ethnicity to trees, some people will stop at nothing to make their point.

What is next? The clouds over Baltimore are most like the clouds over Miami, proving that Baltimore is a Southern City?

They are the same is the clouds in Miami. Baltimore and Miami has practically the same tropical weather, but when the clouds cross the M-D line, they instantly turn into snow clouds.

Uh no. Per city data, English is the largest group. When you combine English Americans and "American" ancestry (which are overwhelmingly English), the English outnumber Germans. It's English, then German, then Irish.

It's the entire state of Maryland where German is the largest ancestry.

Yes because snow doesn't exist south of Maryland.

Because these things don't make MD Northeastern, you don't like hearing them. Accents aren't NE, cuisine isn't NE, attire...I don't even know wtf to say about that as it's an argument no one has made and doesn't determine region, ethnic groups are not NE, and USDA plant hardiness zones aren't NE. So...again, you just don't like how MD has non-Northeastern characteristics.

Who said that?

Also, who said anything about the South? PROVE Baltimore is Northeastern, don't try and "disprove" it is Southern. The onus lies on those making the CLAIM.

Interesting point EddieOlSkool! LOL! My grandparents were 2 generations away from the cotton plantations of North Carolina.

Do you think??! I don't think so. Especially amongst Maryland's African American communities I bare witness to southern-ism nuances and pains in my a$$ everyday.
The Southern culture is definitely evident in Baltimore's Black population, with their Carolina influenced culture and almost non-rhotic, almost Coastal Southern dialect.

In the White population, the conservatism of the largest Maryland ethnic group, the Germans bares witness to the fact that Whites in the area aren't exactly Northeastern, either.
