I've decided to hold off on purchasing a home for a while and have decided to use this time to spend a year living in the city (areas such as federal hill, canton, fells point, locust point...). I'm a male in my mid twenties. I really like the luxury apartments in the city (modern/new remodeled...) and being close to the nightlife.

1.) 1BR/1BA (Loft or apartment is fine)
2.) Safe (relatively speaking just looking to stay out of any bad/problem areas)
3.) Luxury type/modern look
4.) Near or a short cab ride from nightlife/bars/resturaunts
5.) Young/active area
6.) I'd like to stay under $1000 if possible (or atleast as close to it)

Looking for advice on any apartment complexes that match (or is close to my criteria above)

Thanks

I'm a licensed realtor in MD based out of Baltimore and can help you find rentals. If you're interested, please feel free to PM me.

You are asking almost exactly the same question someone else just asked, so here is the answer again:

Federal Hill, Canton, Mt Vernon, Fells Point, Locust Point are areas in the city and will all fit the bill except they are not new/modern. Far from it actually, although some have been nicely renovated and may qualify as what you are looking for. Finding something with 1 bedroom for $1000 is doable, but getting one that is well renovated for that price will be a bit tough. With a few exceptions, the newish construction stuff will be way out of your price range. You should check craigslist if you haven't, the vast majority of apartments downtown are not in managed complexes like other cities.

New/modern stuff downtown apartment wise is mostly in harbor east which will meet your criteria, except for the price.

$1000 in Baltimore won't buy you "luxury" unless your definition of luxury is very very loose.

You should share an apartment, that would make it more realistic.

My bf and I am moving to baltimore from ny within 2 weeks. We found a great place for under 700.00 for a 1 bedroom in the Canton area. The apt place is called Boston Crossing Apartments on Boston Road. They are super nice people. The apt is 5 min outside of the city and about 10-15 mina way from the Baltimore Harbour. This is there link: http://www.thetimegroup.com/timegroup.aspx?ss=6&id=22

whitequeen, i hope you enjoy your new apartment. you're not far from canton in driving distance, however it is not the same neighborhood, and that's why you were able to save a lot of money. it looks like a nice, clean place. congrats!

So what is that neighborhood called and why wouldn't you choose that location?

I believe it is in O'Donnell Heights. I prefer something a bit more convenient to places I go to (work, etc.)
