Hello,

There is a vacant lot near my house, and I am potentially interested in buying it. I checked the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation's Real Property Data Search for Baltimore City, and the owner is listed as "Mayor & City Council".

Does anyone know whether it would be possible to buy the lot? How much might they charge relative to the listed property value? Any information is appreciated.

Thanks!

If it's not a marketable property and you want it as a yard you can get it for very cheap, probably $1000. If you're a would-be homebuilder then things are more complicated.

Welcome to Baltimore Housing
How can I purchase the vacant lot next to my home?

If your home is adjacent to a city-owned vacant lot, you can purchase the space and transform the lot into your personal garden, expand your existing yard space or possibly add a parking pad to your property. The City of Baltimores Side Yard program has a low-cost solution to make the property your own. Certain restrictions apply. To learn more, please call 410.396.4111.
