I guess it depends on the person right. But what is "Hopkins Area" really like? The N. Broadway area is "Hopkins Area"? Correct?

Not necessarily. There are three campuses for Hopkins: Homewood, the hospital, and Bayview. The hospital is on broadway. Homewood is in North Baltimore. Bayview is in the eastern edges of the city. Homewood is anything but a place to be avoided.

^^ It really is too vague to be meaningful...
but in that, using such a vague and meaningless term at least implies that the person using it...
is either clueless or being deliberately deceptive. neither is a good trait in a prospective LL.

considering hopkins owns half of the city, it'd be hard to say if it should be avoided or not. as was previously mentioned, there are hopkins hospitals in every part of the city. however, if you are talking about the main hopkins hospital off of monument, what i've noticed is that a lot of investors/developers are trying very hard to convince out of towners that the area is worth taking a risk on. i've seen rehabbed houses off of jefferson street where the owners were asking for $1300 month. granted this area is still pretty hood.

I'd definitely live by JHU, if you are looking at hospital area, South of the hospital is pretty nice, there is also crazy development going on directly north. I wouldn't go east of the hospital ever, and not south at this point.

You mean north, right?

Property Managers will sometimes lie when they list properties and say they are in different areas. I've never heard of an official "Hopkins Area" so is it Homewood, the hospital, or Bayview but since you mention N Broadway then it's the hospital.

South East of the Hospital is good in my opinion.

As someone else said, its too vague to be meaningful. When someone describes a place like that, there is a good chance its in the hood and they are being vague on purpose.

Sorry meant to say west. East really bad, west not great, south pretty nice and growing, north... Shiny and new but spotty.

I'm guessing the ad I saw mentioned "Hopkins Area" must have meant it to be the hospital (since Hopkins is mostly known as a hospital, then a university). Yeah it's N Broadway alright.

I think both the hospital and the university are pretty well known. US News and World Report named Hopkins Hospital #1 and Hopkins University near the top (above some ivy league schools.)
