Am I completely crazy? I'm getting a job in/around Andrews air force base and I'd love to live in Baltimore. What is a good way to get to and from these places? How long would you guess the commute is? It seems about an hour or maybe two. I have family in Hamden and I want to live sort of near them. Thanks for any help!

Yep, you're certifiable...
Don't do it. 2 hours minimum commute time. Look instead at eastern PG County or Charles County. Come to Baltimore on the weekends to visit.
Commute: No mass transit
Leaving Baltimore, stuck in traffic until I-95 meets with I-695. Then, you're free until you hit Rt. 175 / Rt. 32 area, then it's hit or miss whether you'll be in traffic down to the DC beltway. Then it clears up for about 2-5 miles, then it's jammed until you fight your way off the Beltway to Andrews like all of the other people going there at the same time...
Don't even think about the B/W Parkway. Just as much traffic, but 2 fewer lanes to move it. You have the NSA / Ft. Meade traffic, and then it jams up again right after Rt. 32
