Small family moving from Vegas with 1 elementary age kid to the Baltimore area soon. We're looking for an ideal place to call home for our family. We're looking for the typical stuff like diversity, culture, nice neighborhoods and decent schools all at a great rental price $2000 a month or less would be a nice fit for a young hard working blue collar family like us. I need to have a small garage or something secure for my motorcycle, maybe a town home or small house is probably the ideal. We want urban but doesn't have to be in the city just within 45min or so. One of us travels for work plus will also work at multiple regional locations where Trade shows, conventions and or concerts take place like convention centers, Hotels, event centers, stadiums, Arenas, etc in Va, DC, Md region. The other will work part time near Home locally wherever we move.. Suggestions will be appreciated..

$2000 should get you a nice rental more or less wherever you'd like to live around the city or county.

With a school aged child, I'd stay outside the city limits...far outside. Anne Arundel County has some of the best schools in the area and around Linthicum you should be about to rent a small house with yard and garage for that amount.

Thanks, What neighborhood would you recommend with good schools in and around Balitimore. We have 1 child in the later part of elementary school so a good Middle school is a must also. we prefer the urban lifestyle, diverse culture, multiple races, and community involvement. Above all, good schools are a must so if that means we live out of the city then that is what we will do.

There are very good public schools in Baltimore City. You just have to look harder to find them. A neighborhood I'd recommend is Lauraville, in NE Baltimore. There is City Neighbors Charter School. And Baltimore City College HS, one of the best in the state.

The houses in the neighborhood are great. Check out: About the Neighborhoods of Greater Lauraville in Baltimore MD (http://www.greaterlauraville.com/about.html - broken link)
