My husband, 2 year old, and I may be relocating to the Baltimore area with my husband's job being close to downtown. Any suggestions on safe, kid-friendly areas to live without a huge commute for my husband? We are wanting to be somewhere with good school districts as well since the kiddo will be there sooner than later! Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

It depends on your budget.

When we moved here we looked at Columbia/Ellicott City, Catonsville, and Linthicum. They'd all be good depending on what you want. In terms of schools, I'd look at them in that order for the most part, but greatschools.com can give you better info.

Slightly farther away, but much better schools and safer neighborhoods is Severna Park, Arnold and Crofton.

Your budget and definition of "huge commute" would be the first clues to be able to answer your question. Also, are you looking to buy or rent?
