You don't say where in/near Baltimore you're starting from...
But even if your starting right at the entrance to 95 at 395...
it's about 60 miles of roadway that just won't want to let you go anywhere close to 60mph.

Anyway... 2hrs *should* be enough. But it probably won't be.

hth

I'd call that impossible.

Two hours should be enough on a normal day but if you are doing something like catching an international flight I wouldn't risk it. 4 or 4:30 is a big difference and it matters whether you are going to the airport or can take the HOV-2 lane of the toll road and have a smart tag. Take quarters if you aren't going to the airport and don't have a smart tag. DC traffic is never simple.

Honestly I'd leave at 3PM you should be able to coast to the Woodrow Wilson by 4 and may run into traffic once you get to I66 or the the toll road but you'll get there in time. If you leave at 430 there's a good chance you may not make it. I commute from PG to Baltimore and on the evening commute back, it's been running an 1 1/2 and you would be getting in on an even worse traffic jam in Virginia.

Also you should say where in Baltimore. I commute to the Johns Hopkins Homewood area so I waste 30 minutes just trying to leave Baltimore in the evening.

Looping around to take the Wilson bridge is going to be a longer trip unless there is some unusual event. Traffic sucks on the northern part of 495 but it's still the best way most of the time. You can also go through DC via 295 and the SE Freeway which is about 15 minutes longer under normal conditions but a good alternate route if beltway traffic is horrific.

This is true I was thinking of my commute. Yes she should head west. Still going to suck either way.

If you're coming from west of Baltimore another option could be to take 70 west to 15 south...a little longer but definitely a nicer ride (as long as it's not raining).
