Caesars unveils details of proposed $310M Baltimore casino - Baltimore Business Journal

Baltimore may have been the last Casino to get up and running, but it looks like it's worth the wait. Harrahs is coming in and putting in a pretty nice facility and looking to revitalize the entire south gateway to the city from 295. It also looks like they are trying to be high end, which will hopefully help keep some riff-raff out.

Should be a nice entertainment district with the stadiums, supposedly a new Hammerjacks music venue, and then the Harrahs. Whether you are for Gambling or not, the Casino was coming, and at least they are doing it right, and cleaning up a pretty abandoned looking area. With this, a potential arena, and potential Soccer Stadium... downtown has some pretty awesome stuff in the works!

I had heard about this. I think the developer was waiting to see how Cordish ended up with the Arundel Mills venue. The big question will be if they can get table games or not.

Here is some more info on that. The way our Gov't spends, they are going to have no choice but to add table games.

The ONLY question is whether they can get table games
(or how long they can hold on until they do).

I, personally, am all for it. Have been for years. I genuinely believe the city, will benefit greatly from a casino here. Plus, I'd love to only have to drive from Owings Mills to play poker!

Although, if they do build the arena as planned (part of the Convention Center IIRC) I hope it attracts a minor league hockey team again. It's been too long.

But anyway, I can't wait for this to be completed.

I think it could be nice or it could be crappy...Like I thought Vegas was kind of seedy...but I liked Atlantic City...even though the hotels in Las Vegas were nicer. Hopefully there will be venues for high rollers other attractions for the people who aren't addicted to gambling...

I lean toward the crappy.
Tour buses and the gray haired old ladies looking to play slots they are full of can fit in well enough in the suburban parking lot like Arundel Mills...

On the plus side, this may be the push that really helps turn Pigtown and the surrounding areas around economically.
