Hello, I am a male graduate student going on 30 who will be moving to the Greater Baltimore area from Ohio for a summer internship and am interested in furnished or semi-furnished housing with a 3-month lease in Columbia, Ellicott City, Owings Mills, Catonsville, or other nearby areas in Howard County or southwestern Baltimore County. Even with a studio or 1BR, I understand that this will not be cheap (one post I found said that the average for what I have described would be about $3,000/month), but would like to know what my options are. Apartment review websites have not been very helpful. I am most interested in safety and relative affordability. Any leads or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

No way! Not that much.

Where is your internship? All of the towns you wish to live in are pretty spread out and you will have to contend with traffic so it would help to know where you will be commuting to.

Thanks for your response, HandsUpThumbsDown. I'll be working in Woodlawn. I've also been looking at extended stay hotels near BWI, in Columbia, and in Hunt Valley. Some of these come in under $2,000/month, but online reviews report the same kinds of horror stories one seems to find on many review sites. I am skeptical of these reviews, but also want to avoid problems if I can. Do you have any advice?
