Hi, I am thinking about moving to the north chester and fayette street in the Butchers Hill area of Baltimore. I know that with Baltimore, you need me to careful with the area you pick. Is this a bad area? I hear there is a lot of development going on in the area. Has that made it better? Is it still a bad area to move to? I am a single, early 20s woman and really dont want to move to a shady neighborhood especially since I will be walking my dog in that area. Please let me know what you think of this area. Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Right off the top of my head, not being intimately acquainted with N. Chester and Fayette Sts. I think I wouldn't venture north of Baltimore Street.

The are around Hopkins is not known as one of the best and muggings there are a fact of life. That being said I guess it's up to your comfort level.

Use Apartments for Rent - PadMapper Apartment Search for Oodle, Apartments.com, Rent.com, Kijiji, and Craigslist Apartments to load up the address, Show More Features, Show Super-Secret Advanced Features and check SpotCrime Overlay. This is just a ROUGH guide as there was a threat a week or so back about the flaws of SpotCrime.

Being a dog walker, look for a place around Patterson Park. You'll have a lot of company. Myself, I would look on Baltimore Street bordering the park or on the west or south sides.

You must mean greektown. Very safe there. Those homes seem like pretty good deals.

The extended butchers hill area is rapidly improving, there is about to be a huge mixed use project a block from there.

They do seem like good deals but I'll pass. It's in an industrial area.
