I want to know if anyone knows anything about the The Congress Apartments located on 306 w Franklin Street. Baltimore, MD. I am a single female moving to Baltimore for the first time and wanted to if anyone could advice me on this complex and the particular area it is located in. Is this street safe? okay to come home late at night I get off work at 10pm. If you cant say anything about this complex very open to other apartments in the city that is close to harber, or even west side. Thanks

The Congress is a great building located in an area that is perfectly fine to walk in during the day. At night, I would use caution. There is a lot happening right in that general vacinity but it is not quite there yet so you would be living in a "transitional" neighborhood. I would live there but I am not you. If you are a bit skeptical, I suggest looking for a place in a more prominent area of the city. If you are driving home from work, I believe the Congress offers parking.

For 1500, you should be able to find something in Federal Hill, Fells Point, Mt. Vernon, Canton or downtown in a more active area. Check the sticky thread on neighborhoods or you may want to check craigslist for availabilities. There are many other areas of the city also so I apologize in advance if I neglected to mention some.

Also, I spoke with someone at work today who mentioned that there were parking "issues" associated with the Congress. Just thought I would put that out there.

I live @ the congress and luv it...been there since 07/08
parking is not an issue...$ 70.00 per month via the chesepeake apts.
which share the parking lot with the congress
quiet , historical buiding...but you will hear the street level noise of the city
thin windows.
