In the spirit of Smithsonian Museums, who offer free admission everyday, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket...for free.

Thanks for the info. As luck would have it, Sept. 28-30 is the first weekend I'll be in Baltimore in over a year. (I have a luncheon date that Friday.) I'll print up a free-pass ticket and go to the B&O Museum. I've been there before, so I know what to expect.

On the following Saturday I'll "screw my courage to the sticking place" (Mrs Macbeth) and visit the Poe House on Amity Street for the first time. I've driven by it twice before, but I never had the courage to park my car on the street in that neighborhood. I think I'll give it another try.

The Poe house is indeed in an awful neighborhood - however ive never heard of anyone having any problems when visiting. More like, "people were friendlier than I expected."

Have you visited the Poe grave yet? That cemetery is really neat.

oh yeah, the Baltimore Book Festival is this weekend as well (with free admission)-for those who did not know it has moved from Mt Vernon to the Inner Harbor.
