I was wondering if someone may comment on the apartment building at 6 E 30St?
I am thinking about renting an studio/efficiency there, as it is close to the Homewood campus.
The company is the Star property management company https://rentalapartments.com.

How noisy is E 30 St?
I used to live on W 30 St, and knew that although it is not a busy street, but sometimes big trucks passing by can shake the bedroom facing W 30 St.

Thanks for the information!

I sublet there a looooooong time ago. It was nice. I'd do it again. The frat house on the south side of the street can be noisy (SW corner St Paul and 30th)

I knew a guy who rented an efficiency around there a long time ago. Probably the same building. I was only there once but it seemed very small and outdated. My friend commented that his neighbors were less than savoury. Real nice location though.

When I was younger I lived in a studio for a year. But I was content just to sit in a chair and drink whiskey until I collapsed on the floor. You can do that when you're young.

Thanks, HandsUpThumbsDown and GunsMass!

The studio is on the first floor facing E 30 St and the north side of the frat house, below which is the terrace level apartments in the same building. I didn't know there was a frat house on the other side of the street, until I saw your post. Hope they are not making noise.

Did the traffic on E 30 St and on St Paul bother you?

Was there any pest problem, like mice and cockroaches?

Was it hot and stuffy in the hot summer days, without AC unit?
Was the heating working well in cold days?

GunsMass, nice old days, isn't it? I am easy to be content too, not drinking though. The building is on the left side of the street in the picture of E 30 ST here https://maps.google.com/maps?q=6+E+30th+Street. 4 E 30th is the first door, and 6 E 30th is next and further away and more close to St. Paul St.

I was only there for a month and it was winter. Don't remember anything about road noise or pests. I was in a 1 br.

I am currently living in a bedroom of a 2 bedroom apartment at the terrace level in Linkwood. I am feeling it is okay here in Linkwood, spacious and not very expensive, except that the wall and ceiling are not sound-proof very well (I can hear my roommate often playing music and action movies on his computer), which is why I consider to leave. But not sure if the studio in E 30th St is worth my move?

Linkwood is nice. A problem more significant than noise would be required before I thought of moving from a 2BR to an efficiency.

Ask your room-mate if he couldn't reduce the bass levels of his music. This machine should help with the rest: Marpac The Original Sound Conditioner™ - Bed Bath & Beyond. There's a BBB on Joppa Rd.

You could very easily find yourself dealing with noise in any building, esp. if it's the outdated one my friend lived in.
