I have a few:
Take a shower as soon as I get out of bed-make ablution, make absolution for last year.
First meal of the day has to be black-eyed peas with rice, greens and cornbread-for luck and prosperity in the coming year.
Start finishing off any/all leftover champagne-don't want that stuff going flat.
Call my mother downhome to insure that we're both still kicking.
Put new date stickers on license plates.
Don't leave the house or even get dressed if at all possible.
Go to bed early, it's gonna be a long year.

I usually attend the Mummer's Parade in Philadelphia but didn't this year due to a long trip to New Orleans for the holidays. So this year, champaigne and crab legs. In bed by 1. Today: a walk with the dogs, time spent at the gym, and now TV Land: Starting with Season 1 of Treme.

We don;t get wild anymore on NYE. As a younger man, I played gigs most bar type holidays adn have grown quite fond of avoiding amatuer night as years have progressed.

Traditions these days:
hang out with the kids!
Change batteries in the smoke detectors (I know, not sexy, but oh so necessary)
go for oysters NYD

Hope y'all have a great 2013!
