Belair Edison has some very stable blocks but I dont know for how much longer.... Unfortunately, the downgrading of the nearby commercial areas along Belair Road and Erdman Ave has brought alot of negative activity into the area not to mention as folks are relocated from East Baltimore.. They find their way up Harford and Belair Roads into places like Belair Edison, Gardenville, Frankford, and Overlea.

I dont know what the future holds for Belair Edison. I think sections along the Park and adjacent to stable hoods like Mayfield will be OK but not sure about the edges along Sinclair Lane or the areas directly behind the commerical areas.. Most homeowners may flee those blocks because of loitering, drinking, trash and what not spilling over from the bus stops and commercial stores... leaving them open to renters from East Baltimore, some of which may be less than desirable tenants. The network of alleys that probably were good pedestrian corridors now make quick short cuts and getaways for near do wells, loiters and would be burgulars.

I wouldnt say you would need a military escort to go through the residential sections quite yet.. but that depends on your comfort level...

"negative activity"
Is that what we're calling shootings, robberies, break-ins and car thefts now? Reminds me of the other acronyms I see on this board to obfuscate what Baltimore is really about, e.g. gritty, real, down-to-earth, up-and-coming. Add negative activity to the list. To overlook is to accept.

Are the items you listed positive activities? Are those the only things someone would have to worry about moving to Belair Edison? If not.. then I would think that 'negative activities' encompasses what most rational people would think of without going point by point detailing each category...since that list could be endless.. Pissing on the street, littering, vandalism, stabbings, graffiti, muggings are all negative activities.. but not on your list..

A negative activity is having to read a book you don't like. Littering, vandalism, stabbings are crimes. Let's call them that. Don't mislead people by telling them they might run into a little negative activity.

That is what I don't understand. During your time, Baltimore had way more of a population with a low crime rate, but now it's in reverse. We have a low population and high crime rates??!!
______
What's not to understand? Society has decayed. Mass shootings at schools in 1960? If you find any instances, they'll be few and far between. Armed guards and metal detectors in 1960? Not even in govt. offices like Social Security. Out of wedlock rates in 1963: whites 8%; blacks 25%. Today, whites tripled to 25% and blacks 70%. LBJ said he gave us the Great Society. Yeah, right. Don't get me started, please.
